Artist's Comments

Peggy and the handless Buffy in this drawing are fiction, but the legless Jill is a real girl and she kindly gave me permission to draw her in this picture. The portrait doesn't really look like the real Jill !

So this Jill really is legless? How did she lose her legs?

This is great: good to see a new Peggy picture! Best wishes for your holiday, John

Great work as usual. Hope you had a great holiday. They do a lot to reast the mind and clear away the cobwebs.
Yes I also know of Jill, and although it dosen't look like her I feel you have capyured her rather well. I believe it was the result of an auto accident if I remember from years ago.
I just had to add this to my fav's.

Regards
Bob

Jill Pearce lost both her legs several years ago in a car accident (in fact, she was crushed by a car the driver had lost control of). I think she surgeon who amputated her wasn't a good one, because her stumps are really ugly - uglier than I drew them. There are many photos and videoclips of her on the Net.

I'll try to find them, but a quick question...does she use prosthetics or a wheelchair?

She uses both, and crutches (even old wooden ones sometimes) and peg legs in her photos (sometimes 2 wooden peg legs without knee locks).

Interesting that you did a work about Jill. I think she has nice stumps, also she is one of the hottest amputees.

The beauty is really something strange and abstract, very surprising, and very tricky sometimes, but is great and marvelous, in all of it's forms.

My friend in California, Norm, who wrote the dialogs of my pictures several years ago, was a friend of Jill and he suggested me to make a picture of Jill and Peggy together. Jill gave permission to and I had some correspondence with her, sending sketches and getting her critiques. She finally agreed about the completed image, while saying she wasn't so slim...
